The old adage “slow and steady wins the race” is almost always true. The tortoise, in the story of the hare and the tortoise, won the race not because he was the smartest, smallest, or wittiest, but rather because he was unshakably determined, and kept laser-focus on the end result: the finish line.
If you struggle to maintain momentum and motivation in your quest to achieve a goal, you’re not alone!
Plateaus, setbacks, and relapses are normal when it comes to life-changing goals, but there are things that can be done to keep the fires burning inside you during your journey.
Use these strategies to maintain momentum and motivation:
Take action daily. This is the single most powerful step to keeping momentum. Taking action ensures progress, no matter how small. Do something, anything, to keep moving forward.
Seek motivation and inspiration. Take a few minutes every day to read, listen to, or watch something inspiring. Motivational quotes inspire and help transcend your mindset from the daily grind onto bigger and better things.
Monitor your progress. When you are stuck and not moving forward, review the goal you’re trying to accomplish. Figure out what it is you need to do to push on. Focus on how close you are to the finish line, rather than how far you are from it.
The key concept is “progress.” Taking action every day, and doing even only one thing that moves you along, builds and maintains momentum.
Do something right now!
